WANT TO GUIDE A RAFT IN COLORADO – Private boater & Professional Guide Classes
We offer three levels of raft guide training. The introductory course is aimed at those of you who want to guide your own private raft. This course is also appropriate for those of you desiring to float-fish on rivers that have whitewater sections. You learn paddle strokes, oaring, river navigation, and safety techniques.
Have the basics but want to learn more sophisticated techniques? Then enroll in our four-day Advanced Guide training course. This class takes you to the next level of river training with the more technical aspects of river rafting.
For those of you seeking employment as a commercial raft guide (for anyone else who’s interested), we offer a four-day commercial raft guide training course. This course includes classroom and on-river sessions. The training will prepare you with knowledge and skills leading to certification as a commercial raft guide. Additional courses to complete your State of Colorado certification as a commercial guide are available. Call 800-858-6808 for more information.
COMMERCIAL RAFT GUIDE COURSE
We offer this four-day course especially for individuals seeking employment as commercial raft guides. Rocky Mountain Adventures hires many of its new guides from this course, so if you are interested in joining our company as a commercial raft guide, you will especially want to talk to us about enrolling in this class.
The first three days of instruction are similar to those offered in our Introductory Course described above. On the fourth day, you demonstrate your skills to our staff. Come prepared to be outdoors and camp away from home, as we may travel to different rivers over the four-day period depending on water conditions.
Following the four-day class, if you are a new guide on our staff, we continue to provide you the training necessary to meet State of Colorado and company requirements. Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (in person class) is required for commercial guides. Course cost includes instruction, textbook, boating equipment, personal flotation device, helmet, and lunches on the river.

Because being prepared is part of your responsibilities as a boat captain, we will teach you the components of a well-stocked first aid, repair, and rescue kit.
