We offer three levels of raft guide instruction: Introduction, Commercial, and Advanced.
For Private Boaters, the “Introduction to Rafting” course is aimed at those of you who want to guide your own private raft. Have the basics but want to learn more sophisticated techniques? Then enroll in our “Advanced Techniques” training course. This a private course that is tailored specifically to your needs, so let us know what you are interested in learning and we will make it happen.
For those of you seeking employment as a commercial raft guide, we offer a “Commercial Raft Guide Training” course. This course includes classroom and on-river sessions. The training will prepare you with knowledge and skills required to work as a commercial raft guide and meet Colorado State standards.

COMMERCIAL RAFT GUIDE TRAINING
We offer this 10 day course especially for individuals seeking employment as commercial raft guides. If you are interested in joining our company as a commercial raft guide you can apply here.
The first five days of instruction are similar to those offered in our Introduction to Rafting course. Over the next five days, you will continue to hone in your skills as you work towards becoming a commercial guide for Rocky Mountain Adventures. Come prepared to spend two weeks in cold mountain water, be outdoors and camp away from home, as we may travel to different rivers over the course depending on water conditions. Understand this course is demanding both physically and mentally, so come prepared to challenge yourself.
Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (in person class) are also required for commercial guide employment. Course cost includes instruction, textbook, boating equipment, personal flotation device, and helmet.

INTRODUCTION TO RAFTING
Learn to guide your own raft! If you have a desire to paddle guide your raft through whitewater, this is the course for you. Paddle strokes, river hydrology, river navigation, and safety techniques are just a few of the skills taught.
In addition, you will learn various types of rafts and the basics of outfitting your boat. This five day course includes classroom and on-water sessions. Concurrent registration or certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (or equivalents) is encouraged. Course cost includes instruction, textbook, boating equipment, personal flotation device, helmet.

ADVANCED TECHNIQUES
Whether you enjoy rowing or paddling, our Advanced Techniques courses provide you with the opportunity to enhance your river running skills. This is a private course allowing you to decide what aspects of rafting you would like to know more about. Interested in rowing, multi-day systems, or wanting to dial in your personal craft? We’ve got you covered.

- Paddle guiding techniques
- How to set up a oar rig: Center mounts and/or Stern rigs
- Rowing techniques: Center mounted and Stern mounted frames available for courses
- Set up your personal raft for multi-day trips
